How strikethrough works here
It is not a font effect. After every letter the generator adds an invisible helper character, a combining mark, that tells the device to draw a line through the letter before it. The text underneath is still ordinary letters.
Strikethrough and slash
Strikethrough draws a long line through the middle. Slash through draws a diagonal stroke across each letter. Both are made the same way.
It can look uneven
Because each mark is drawn separately, the line may have tiny gaps between letters, or sit at slightly different heights in some fonts. It looks cleaner at larger sizes.
If the app has real strikethrough, use it
Many places support it directly: Discord and GitHub use two tildes around the text, and word processors have a strikethrough button. That keeps the text as normal text. Use the generator where there is no other way.
Questions
Is the original text still there?
Yes. The letters are normal, with a small invisible mark after each one. That is why copying works almost everywhere.
Why does the line break up on my screen?
The line is drawn letter by letter, and some fonts leave tiny gaps. It is a limit of how the effect is made.
Can I remove it later?
Delete the text and retype it. The marks are mixed in with the letters, so you cannot select just the line.
