Example
The text Hello, world in this style:
Typewriter, monospace
𝙷𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚘, 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚕𝚍
What you get
The letters and digits are replaced by Unicode's monospace set, which has the squarish, even look of typewriter and code lettering. The shapes are plain, with little feet on the letters.
Is it really monospace?
The characters are designed as monospace, but the font on your device decides how wide each letter is drawn. In some fonts they come out evenly spaced and in others they do not, so the effect is a look, not a guarantee.
Not for code
If you want to show code or aligned text, use the code or monospace format of the app you are in, such as backticks in Markdown. That keeps real letters, which people can copy and run.
Good for
A heading, a short quote or a bio line that you want to feel like it was typed on paper.
Questions
Why are my letters not evenly spaced?
Your device draws these characters with whatever font it has for them, and not every font spaces them evenly.
Can I use it for code?
It is not a good idea. Code needs real letters, because a computer will not read these characters as normal code.
Do numbers change?
Yes. Digits have a monospace version too.
