Where wide text comes from
Fullwidth characters were created for East Asian text, where every character takes a square cell. Latin letters, digits and punctuation have fullwidth versions so that they line up with Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters.
What the generator converts
Letters, numbers and ordinary punctuation all become fullwidth, and spaces become wide spaces. That is what makes the text look spread out.
Do not use it for web addresses
A fullwidth web address or email address will not work, because the computer sees different characters from the ones it expects. Use wide text for decoration only.
Easy to read in small amounts
Wide text is readable at a glance for a few words and tiring for a paragraph. It also takes up about twice the space, which matters in a short bio.
